About Buttcon Limited

As one of Canada's leading general contractors, Buttcon brings nearly 50 years of construction experience delivering complex industrial, infrastructure, institutional, and commercial construction projects across Canada. With offices in Toronto, Ottawa, and Calgary, and a team of over 250 employees, our work is guided by a commitment to safety, accountability, collaboration, and operational excellence.

For the mining sector, Buttcon provides Design-Build and Construction Management solutions tailored to the unique demands of remote operations, accelerated schedules, and operational continuity. Our experience in complex construction environments allows us to support mining clients with the delivery of light industrial buildings, workforce accommodations, logistics facilities, maintenance infrastructure, operational offices, and phased expansion projects.

Through our modular division, Buttcon delivers a range of Modern Methods of Construction (MMC) solutions designed to improve speed, predictability, and efficiency in remote and labour-constrained environments. With access to multiple fabrication partners across Canada, we provide the flexibility to deliver both wood and steel modular structures, supporting applications ranging from temporary workforce accommodations to permanent operational infrastructure.

Steel modular systems provide durability, speed of deployment, and scalability, making them well suited for mining camps, industrial support buildings, and long-term operational facilities. Wood modular systems offer cost-effective and sustainable solutions with enhanced adaptability and reduced site disruption. In addition to volumetric modular construction, Buttcon also supports panelized building systems for light industrial and surface infrastructure projects, helping accelerate enclosure and commissioning schedules.

Technology

Buttcon + ATCO are bringing integrated mining infrastructure solutions to Mining Transformed in Sudbury, showcasing how modern construction delivery models, advanced digital technologies, and modular solutions can support the evolving needs of Canada's mining sector.

We will be showcasing how Modern Methods of Construction (MMC), digital construction technologies, and integrated project delivery approaches are transforming how mining infrastructure is planned, coordinated, and delivered.

Mining projects increasingly face challenges related to labour shortages, remote logistics, operational continuity, and accelerated production schedules. Buttcon leverages advanced digital construction tools to help mining clients improve project certainty, reduce field risk, and accelerate deployment timelines for workforce accommodations, light industrial facilities, maintenance buildings, logistics hubs, and operational infrastructure.

Our team will demonstrate how Building Information Modeling (BIM) and Virtual Design & Construction (VDC) are used to coordinate projects before fabrication and construction begin, enabling improved constructability reviews, clash detection, sequencing, and integration between modular, panelized, and conventional building systems. These technologies help reduce rework, improve field coordination, and support faster installation and commissioning in complex mining environments.

We will also showcase how LiDAR scanning, drone-based reality capture, and OpenSpace AI technologies are being used to improve accuracy and project visibility throughout construction. These tools allow teams to digitally capture existing site conditions, monitor progress in real time, validate installation accuracy, and compare field conditions directly against coordinated BIM models. This level of digital integration supports better decision-making, improved quality control, enhanced safety planning, and more predictable project execution.
